SHAMSHEER_BE_NEIYAAM Vol-1 (Part-II) By Anayat Ullah

The traveler was walking alone in the Arabian desert.

In the time of 8 Hijrah (AH), the area of Arabia where Makkah and Madinah are located used to be a very terrible desert; burning and scorching people. One was the desert's own difficulties, the other was the danger of bandits. Passengers used to travel in caravans but this passenger was going alone. He rode a high-bred war horse.

His armor was tied to a horse's saddle. He had a sword hanging from his back and a spear in his hand. In those days, men were tall, with broad chests and short bodies. This lone traveler was one of those men, but the way he sat on the horse showed that he was a prince and not an ordinary man.

There was not the slightest hint of fear on his face that the robbers would rob him. He would be snatched from such a good breed of horse and would have to travel on foot, but the impression on his face was not natural. He was thinking something. He was having fun with memories or trying to bury some memories in his mind.

Next came a gorge. The horse went up. Going to a high altitude, smooth air on the ground. The rider stopped the horse and turned it around, standing on the saddles and looking back. He did not see Mecca. Mecca went under the horizon.

"Abu Sulaiman!" He sounded. "Now don't look back." Take Mecca out of your mind. You are a man of the field. Don't cut yourself in two. Stick to your decision. Your destination is Madinah.

He looked away from Makkah, turned his horse towards Madinah, and gave the garden a slight jolt. The horse understood the signal of its rider and started walking. The rider was 9 years old but he looked younger than his age. Solomon was the name of his son. His father's name was Al-Waleed, but Sawar preferred to be called Abu Sulayman instead of Khalid bin Al-Waleed.

Little did he know that history would remember him as Khalid bin Waleed and that name would become another name for the military traditions and spirit of Islam, but at the age of 43, when Khalid was on his way to Medina, he was not a Muslim. Apart from minor skirmishes, he had fought two major wars against the Muslims, the Battle of Uhud and the Battle of the Trench. Khalid was 24 years old when the first revelation was revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) on Monday 610 A.D.

By this time, he had become the leader of the military force of his tribe, the Banu Makhzoom. Banu Makhzoom was one of the few noble families of the Quraysh. The military affairs of the Quraysh were entrusted to this family. The Quraysh obeyed the orders and rulings of Khalid's father Al-Waleed. At the age of 24, Khalid also got this status, but Khalid Abu Sulaiman was going to Medina by rejecting this status.

Sometimes he felt as if a force from his being was dragging him back. When he felt the effect of that force, his neck would turn back, but a voice would rise from his own self. Look ahead Khalid! So, Waleed has a son but he is dead. Sulaman's father is alive now.

Two names stuck in his mind; Muhammad (Rasoolullah) who had brought a new religion and Al-Waleed who was Khalid's father and Muhammad (PBUH) and his great enemy of the new religion. The father left the world by handing over this enmity to Khalid as a legacy.

Khalid's horse had automatically turned on the water. Khalid looked over. In a circle he saw palm trees and desert bushes. The horse was going there.Entering the oasis, Khalid jumped off his horse, took off his turban and fell into the water.

He filled it with water and poured it on his head and splashed it on his face. His horse was drinking water. Khalid drank water from a spring that was for human consumption only. It was a small forest. Khalid unloaded his horse's saddle and opened a small window tied to the saddle and saved himself under a thicket of bush-like trees.
