Experienced long-haul truck drivers have a fresh opportunity in Atlantic Canada. AYR Motor Express Inc, a trucking company in Woodstock, New Brunswick, has posted a long haul truck driver job on Canada's official Job Bank with 5 vacancies, a salary of $65,000 to $90,000 per year and a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) requested. Most importantly for overseas readers, the posting says the employer accepts applications from candidates "with or without a valid Canadian work permit".
Here is everything the official posting says, plus tips on how to apply the right way.

What the Job Involves
The driver will operate tractor-trailers on long-haul routes, including national, provincial and international (cross-border) trips. Tasks listed include pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections, brake adjustments, loading and unloading goods, recording hours of service and fuel use, relaying information to dispatch, team or convoy driving and handling dangerous goods.
Drivers should be comfortable with logbooks, bills of lading, trans-border documents, CB radio and on-board trip recorders. The posting also mentions lifting up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of experience as a truck driver
- Class 1 or A driver's licence with Air Brake (Z) endorsement
- English
- Criminal record check, driving record (abstract) check and drug test
- Willing to travel overnight, for long periods and across the border
- Own hard hat, steel-toed safety boots and safety vest
Note for overseas drivers: a foreign licence is not automatically valid in Canada. You would normally need to qualify for a New Brunswick Class 1 licence. Ask the employer how they support this before you commit.
Visa Sponsorship: What "LMIA Requested" Means
An LMIA is the approval an employer needs from the Canadian government to hire a temporary foreign worker. Job Bank says the employer "could not find a Canadian worker for this job" and has applied for an LMIA, which is still under review. If it is approved and you are selected, you would use it to apply for a Canadian work permit.
The posting does not say who pays the work permit costs, so we call this visa sponsorship, not free visa sponsorship. Under Canadian rules, employers must pay the LMIA processing fee themselves and cannot recover it from the worker, and employers cannot charge workers recruitment fees.

Tips for Overseas Truck Drivers
- Get your driving abstract ready. A clean record from your home country builds trust.
- Show cross-border or long-haul experience. These are specifically listed in the posting.
- Be honest about your licence. Explain what you hold now and that you are ready to convert or test in Canada.
- Keep everything in writing. Save the job offer, LMIA number and all emails.
Scam Warning
Never pay anyone to "buy" an LMIA or a job offer. Selling LMIAs is illegal in Canada. Real employers do not ask for money to hire you, and Job Bank itself says it will never ask you to pay to search or apply for jobs. Apply only through the official posting.
